Mor Jewelry and Eat Mor Chikin!

I made a couple more pieces for my meaningful jewelry line. This one is for safety in flight. It has an airplane (upwards bound of course), a compass to keep your path and soapstone, which is used for calming the nerves and helping you be prepared for anything.
Malachite is used for protection and is said to detect impending danger. Copper is related to the sun and so the copper sun charm was a good pick.

This piece is for safety in travel by sea. A charm with a lighthouse (to keep your ship safely sailing in the right direction) is attached to an old rectangular thingy.
The mermaid swims below for added safety. (who knows the ocean better than a mermaid?)
The amethyst chips to either side of the mermaid are used for protection, calming and to ward off danger.
This bracelet I made from a piece that I got from Fanci a while back. You can see the "cuff" part in the 2nd picture here.

The beads on the front look like roughed up labradorite but is actually acrylic. The charms and chain part are new stock aged with patina paint.

I love that bit of rusty-ness around the chain and holes of the beads. The brass/bronze piece is very heavy.

In other news, hubby and I did another 5K on Saturday night. One of our chick-fil-a's here does a fabulous light display every Christmas season. There are rows and rows of arches covered with lights going over the drive-thru lane. The whole building and parking lot is light up and the lights dance to the music! You can tune into a radio station and sit in the comfort of your car and watch the show.

And a blurry pic of me just after crossin' the line.
About 3/4 of the way through, I injured my knee. My right knee is already bad from an injury back in July. Now my left one is shot. Boooooooooooooo. But I managed to finish the race. Not in a great time, but still a finish!

OOPS! Had to edit this post cause I FORGOT to mention it's my beautiful little girl's birthday. She is 4 today.

Everyone tell Mysti Happy Birthday!! She's been the most wonderful baby in the last 2 1/2 years since we adopted her! Spoiled rotten rotten rotten!!

Jingle Jangle Bingle Bangles!

Hmm so I had been thinking about making some bangles but hadn't done it yet. (I AM Mrs Procrastination) Then Mrs Fancipants went and created a bunch and they sold like hotcakes...or maybe like Modern Warfare 3 on release day. SSSoooooo I decided to get on the ball and make some.

First I got me some bright n shiny bangles! Wooooo so shiny!
Then I made them purdy and slightly rusty!

Don't they look so much better after?

Then I added all kinds of stuff. Sari silk, beads, wire, dangles, rhinestone chain...etc
Wooot Woot! Aren't they all purdy and stuff?
I waxed them up to seal the metal and dull down a bit of the brightness. Ya know I don't like bright and shiny!
Isn't that heart purdy? I got it in a box of stuff from Fanci.
And doesn't my arm look all old and wrinkly? Dang, I'm only 44!
I actually made myself a set almost identical. I tend to do that with stuff I really like.
Even though the only jewelry I normally wear is a pair of gold hoops and my wedding rings.
So there ya go! An actual jewelry post! Wooooohooooooo!  Now leave some comments so I don't feel like I was talking to myself.  *Smile*

Where you been girl?

I haven't been here in a while. A lot happened and I just didn't blog like I should have. My father has been ill for years. I went to spend a few weeks  back at home. I stayed by his side in the hospital. The doc finally told us that it was time and that we should just do what he would want to make Dad comfortable. It was an easy decision to take him back home. My Dad (or I for that matter) would not want to die in a cold, metal hospital bed. Hospice brought him home and he was in his own bed where he would want to be. I stayed by his side and he passed away peacefully. My heart was broken into many pieces. He was 84.

In October, I walked/ran my 2nd 5K. The Race for The Cure :) I am for sure not a pro runner, but I enjoy the exercise  and  the money goes to a good cause. I normally walk a 5K everyday. Occasionally I skip a day, but I love it!

Hubby and I after the race

I have actually been making stuff! I will post some on that later. Hopefully. Maybe...
